Ansonia, Connecticut – The excitement of high school football continues in Connecticut as the Connecticut High School Football Alliance has unveiled its 2025 schedule, marking another season of competitive matchups. One of the most anticipated games on the schedule is the rematch between Ansonia and Bloomfield, two teams that faced off in the recent CIAC Class S championship. That game took place at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field and ended with Ansonia claiming a decisive 58-12 victory.
This upcoming season will showcase a total of 129 games featuring 121 teams from various conferences within the state. The alliances include teams from seven of the eight conferences in Connecticut, plus a few independents and the two-time defending Rhode Island state champion, Bishop Hendricken. The competitive nature of these interconference games aims to provide teams with challenges that will be beneficial as they prepare for postseason play.
Week 1 alone will kick off with 61 Alliance games. This includes the exciting rematch between Ansonia and Bloomfield, thrilling fans already looking forward to the first week of the season. The Alliance schedule development involved representatives from the participating leagues, ensuring that matchups reflect the playoff performance from the previous season.
Additionally, the schedule structure shows there will be at least one Alliance game in each of the following weeks, leading up to Week 11, with Week 3 featuring a whopping 30 games. Interestingly, Bishop Hendricken will have a shorter travel to face Class SS champion Killingly in the season opener, adding another layer of excitement for fans.
Since its inception, the Connecticut High School Football Alliance has grown significantly. It started with just 66 games in 2017 and 2018 and has increased to 101 games in 2024, showing a thriving community and dedication to high school football in the region. The only conference still outside the Alliance is the Pequot Conference.
