Cincinnati High School Football Shines with 2024 All-Ohio Team Announcements
In Cincinnati, excitement is in the air as the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association has unveiled its 2024 All-Ohio high school football team for Division I, showcasing the best talent from the state. The teams for Divisions VI and VII were released on Monday, followed by Divisions IV and V on Tuesday, and now Divisions II and III have been revealed on Wednesday.
Leading the recognition this year is Matt Ponatoski, the quarterback from Cincinnati Moeller, who was named Mr. Football last week. This award celebrates the top high school football player in Ohio, and Ponatoski is certainly deserving of the honor. He not only made a significant impact for Moeller, but also earned the title of Offensive Player of the Year for his impressive performances throughout the season.
The Defensive Player of the Year accolade went to Nate Gregory from Lakewood St. Edward, highlighting his outstanding contributions to his team’s defense. Meanwhile, Bill Franks of Newark was recognized as the Coach of the Year, further underscoring the competitive spirit seen across the state.
This year’s All-Ohio Team features talented athletes across various positions. At quarterback, alongside Ponatoski, are Andrew Leonard from Powell Olentangy Liberty and Scotty Fox from Mentor. In the running back category, the names to watch include Favour Akih of Delaware Hayes and Marquise Davis from Cleveland Heights.
The wide receiver/tight end group showcases athletes like Preston Bowman of Pickerington North and Jovan Love from Cincinnati Moeller, both making significant contributions to their teams’ successes this year. The offensive line is represented by strong players such as Jake Cook from Westerville North and Carter Lowe of Toledo Whitmer.
On defense, key players include Jalen Joyce from Groveport Madison and Joseph Seney of Perrysburg, among others.
