Miami Set for High School Football State Championships
Miami is gearing up for an exciting week as the final two teams of the Florida high school football season are set to clash in the state championship games. The winners of the recent FHSAA state semifinals will converge on Pitbull Stadium for a series of seven championship games scheduled from Wednesday to Saturday.
Two teams have already claimed their titles in earlier matches. Madison County emerged victorious against Hawthorne in the Rural Division, while Fort Meade triumphed over Dixie County to take home the crown in the Rural Florida Invitation Tournament.
Throughout the state, several thrilling matchups unfolded last Friday night. Defending champions Columbus, who have won the title twice in a row, went toe-to-toe with Venice, the current top-ranked team in the state. Another highlight was the five-time defending champs St. Thomas Aquinas traveling to face Manatee. Additionally, the competition heated up as Cardinal Mooney faced off against Cocoa, both adamant contenders with championship pedigree.
The playoffs offered captivating action across various regions. Fans could keep up with the games from Sarasota to Manatee, Lee to Collier, and from Brevard to St. Johns. While schools from Duval, Clay, Alachua, and Marion counties were well represented, it was a tough season for teams in Volusia, Flagler, Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties, as they did not progress to the semifinals.
As we look ahead to the championship games, excitement and anticipation build among players, coaches, and fans alike. With such a rich history and compelling matchups set for this week, Miami is sure to witness some unforgettable high school football.
