FOXBORO — This week, sixteen high school football teams from Massachusetts are competing at Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots, for a chance to be crowned state champions. The games are organized by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and will run from Wednesday to Friday in Foxboro.
On Wednesday, the excitement kicked off with two games. In the first contest, Uxbridge defeated Mashpee with a score of 42-20 to claim the Division 7 championship. Following that, Hudson edged out Fairhaven 21-14, winning the Division 6 title. These exciting matchups set the stage for the championship weekend.
Thursday’s schedule featured three more thrilling games at Gillette Stadium. In the Division 4 final, Scituate took victory over Duxbury with a score of 29-13. Meanwhile, Xaverian managed to secure a win against Needham, finishing 14-7 in the Division 1 matchup. Catholic Memorial also showed their strength by beating King Philip 39-21 to win the Division 2 crown.
Looking ahead to Friday, fans will see more action with three additional games. The line-up includes:
- Division 8: #1 Randolph vs. #2 West Boylston at 3:00 p.m.
- Division 5: #1 Shawsheen Valley Tech vs. #3 Foxboro at 5:30 p.m.
- Division 3: #3 Mansfield vs. #4 North Attleboro at 8:00 p.m.
This marks the 17th year that Gillette Stadium has played host to the high school football championships, offering a unique experience for both players and fans alike. Tickets cost $20 and include parking, but be sure to purchase them through Ticketmaster as only digital tickets will be accepted via the Gillette Stadium app. Children aged 5 and under can enter for free.
