Dayton Cross Country Prepares for NCAA Great Lakes Regional

DAYTON – The University of Dayton’s cross country teams are geared up to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, taking place at the Silver Creek Cross Country Course in Norton, Ohio. The event, hosted by the Mid-American Conference, will see the women run a challenging 6K course followed by the men tackling a demanding 10K race.

This year, the women will be racing against 34 teams, while the men will face off against 29 other schools. The excitement kicks off at the Silver Creek Cross Country Course, located at 4325 S Medina Line Rd, Norton | OH 44203-5840.

Taking a look back at the recent Atlantic 10 Championships held on November 2 in Mechanicsville, Virginia, both the men’s and women’s teams finished in 11th place. Sam Duncan was the top performer for the men, finishing 31st with a time of 24:53, marking the 18th fastest 8K time in the program’s history. Another standout was Jameson Maynes, who maintained an impressive average mile pace of 5:07.3, finishing 65th at 25:27.7. Graduate student Bryce Conley was making his mark, running his second race of the season and finishing close behind.

On the women’s side, seven Flyers achieved personal best times during the A-10 Championships. Among them, Marissa Pritchett had an outstanding performance, running a 21:19 in the 6K race which earned her a 19th place finish and the 10th-best time in program history. Senior Justine Smith also achieved a personal best with a time of 21:44, placing 41st.

The Flyers will line up to compete this Friday with the following runners:

  • Women: Mia Gill, Bryn Hothem, Olivia Kindbom, Anna Newkirk, Marissa Pritchett, Kaitlin Skelton, and Justine Smith (Alternate: Sarah Haunn)
  • Men: Isaac Burkart, Bryce Conley, Sam Duncan, Connor Ewert, Jacob Herzong, Jameson Maynes, and Andrew Wilcox (Alternate: Colin Sams)
