Following the regional slate of playoff games primarily held on Friday, November 8, the latest state rankings have been released for the 2024 season, showcasing the top teams as they head into the quarterfinal games.
Leading the pack is Derby, boasting a perfect record of 10-0. They secured a dominant 42-14 win over Junction City and are now set to face No. 8 Wichita East, who stands at 7-3. Not far behind are Manhattan and Blue Valley West, both also unbeaten at 10-0 and 9-1, respectively. Manhattan’s latest victory was a remarkable 49-0 against Maize, while Blue Valley West triumphed 33-0 over Olathe Northwest.
In the next tier of teams, Wichita Northwest comes in at No. 5 with a solid 9-1 record after a 62-28 victory against Wichita South. They’ll challenge the only undefeated team, Manhattan, in what could be an intense matchup.
Schools like Andover Central, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Axtell are also shining bright, each holding onto their top spots at 10-0. Andover Central recently defeated Winfield 35-7, while St. Thomas Aquinas followed up with a 28-14 win over Pittsburg.
