NCAA Announces Top 30 Honorees for 2024 Woman of the Year Award

In a notable announcement from Indianapolis, the NCAA has unveiled its Top 30 honorees for the coveted 2024 Woman of the Year award. Established in 1991, this award recognizes outstanding female student-athletes who have excelled both in their studies and in their respective sports.

This year saw a record-breaking 627 nominations submitted by member schools, reflecting the impressive talent within NCAA programs. The nominees were whittled down to 168 at the conference level, and ultimately, the Top 30 were chosen, featuring ten honorees from each of the three NCAA divisions.

The chosen athletes have showcased excellence not just in athletics but also in academics and community service. They represent an array of sports and fields of study, including cell and molecular biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, and civil engineering. The athletes embody the spirit of what it means to be a student-athlete, balancing their academic pursuits with rigorous training and competition.

Marion Terenzio, chair of the Woman of the Year Selection Committee, expressed pride in these honorees, stating, “These honorees represent the very best of what it means to be a student-athlete…” She commended their significant contributions both on and off the field, highlighting their ability to create positive change in their communities.

The next step involves selecting three honorees from each NCAA division, totaling nine finalists. From this group, the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will announce the 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year. The prestigious award will be presented in January during the NCAA Convention, where the Top 30 athletes will also be celebrated.
