Louisville High School Football Game Disrupted by Violence
Louisville, Ky. — A high school football game took a dangerous turn on Sunday night when a double shooting occurred during the match at Pleasure Ridge Park High School. The incident unfolded around 8 o’clock in the evening, leading to chaos and an immediate response from local law enforcement.
According to reports, a 22-year-old man named Damon Jerome Williams Jr. was arrested shortly after the shooting and now faces multiple gun charges. He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. However, it’s important to note that there have been no charges filed against him directly related to the shooting that hospitalized two juveniles.
Witnesses at the game provided statements to the police, launching an investigation into the incident. They claimed to have seen Williams throwing two guns over a fence behind the visitor’s bleachers just before the shots were fired. He was spotted wearing black pants and a white hoodie. Once found by the police, they quickly read him his Miranda rights and obtained a recorded statement from him. Williams reportedly admitted he brought the guns to the high school for personal protection, mentioning that they came from a neighborhood where they felt threatened.
The night took a serious turn when police received a call about trouble around 7:15 p.m.. They had already been hired for security to manage the crowd during the rescheduled football game between PRP and Male High School. Following the gunfire, a male juvenile was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to UofL Hospital in critical condition. Another juvenile showed up later at Mary and Elizabeth Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
As a result of the shooting, the game was suspended, and players were quickly escorted into the locker rooms while spectators were asked to leave the premises. The police believe that those responsible for the shooting escaped into the nearby residential area. They are urging anyone living in that vicinity to check their home surveillance systems for any footage of the incident.
