A&M Consolidated quickly made an impression, building a significant lead, thanks in large part to a strong defensive performance that yielded an astonishing seven turnovers from the Weiss offense, including six interceptions and two pick-sixes. The Tigers took advantage of these opportunities, with a critical interception by Cannon Kieschnick returning for a touchdown, putting A&M up by three scores at one point.
