High School Football Week 4: Standout Performances and Thrilling Victories

High School Football Week 4 Highlights

This week, high school football players put on impressive performances across various games in Utah. With around 85% of coaches submitting their stats, we saw some exciting action and standout athletes.

In Syracuse, Ryker Van Komen shined as he carried the ball 17 times for an incredible 200 yards and scored a touchdown, leading his team to a 34-20 victory over Copper Hills. Meanwhile, at Fremont, Manase Tuatagaloa showcased his skills by completing 19 of his 23 passes for a whopping 425 yards and six touchdowns, helping Fremont crush Hunter 61-13.

Skyridge also had a strong performance as Kaneal Sweetwyne passed for 301 yards and two touchdowns in their 38-10 win over Bingham. Over in American Fork, Will Meine made a significant impact, catching nine passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He played a vital role in American Fork’s 27-20 success against River.

In a thrilling matchup, Cole Lueders led Bonneville to a narrow 32-29 win over Woods Cross, completing 24 of 42 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns. On the opposite end, East had a big win at 55-34 against Alta, thanks to Nasio Otukolo who rushed 202 yards for four scores.

Orem’s Tayden Ka’awa also impressed with a solid performance, completing 17 of 24 passes for 335 yards and four touchdowns, plus adding a rushing touchdown in a comprehensive 56-17 win against West Jordan.

Brighton’s Mason Haertel carried the ball 21 times for 265 yards and two touchdowns, guiding his team to a 35-0 homecoming win over Highland. Spanish Fork celebrated a 56-26 region-opening victory against Uintah, thanks to McKay Smith who threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns.

In Mountain View, Kalvin Floyd contributed significantly in a 41-19 triumph over Payson with stat line that included 128 receiving yards on four catches and two interceptions. The Dixie Flyers won a tight contest against Hurricane, led by Ran Sawyer, who rushed 300 yards and scored five touchdowns in a 41-35 victory.

Other notable performances included Sam Pehrson‘s 219 rushing yards for Murray in a 42-7 win against Jordan, Stone Mortensen catching three touchdowns for Manti in a 45-7 rout of Emery, and Anthony Wilson leading Carbon to victory with 167 rushing yards against Union.

Wrapping up Week 4, Griffin Wayman threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns for Richfield, extending their winning streak to 17 games, while Nicolas Marble led ALA to a thrilling 42-41 win over Grand with four touchdown passes.

In the spotlight, Texas Wilde powered Judge Memorial to a 55-6 win with 149 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while Jaiten Knight helped San Juan dominate Summit Academy with 191 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Sadler Barnes made an all-around contribution for Milford with five catches for 112 yards, kicking four extra points and making defensive plays in a tough 6-0 victory.

Lastly, Hayden Gubler led Kanab to their 42-14 victory over Millard with 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns. This week’s highlights reflect the talent and excitement present in high school football.
