Montana High School Football Season Heats Up with Standout Teams and Anticipated Matchups

HELENA — The excitement of high school football is buzzing in Montana as we are just a couple of weeks into the new season. After two weeks of the Montana high school football season, it’s clear that some teams are already standing out. Last week, teams ranked at the top of their classes, including Bozeman, Dillon, and Fairview, all celebrated strong wins, each by a large margin of at least 26 points. In a twist, Chester-Joplin-Inverness scored a victory over Heart Butte by forfeit, and Manhattan enjoyed a week off.

In Class AA, the top five teams showed their strength. Bozeman, Kalispell Glacier, Bozeman Gallatin, Billings West, and Helena Capital all came out on top last week, each winning by an average of 28 points. The only close game in that mix was Billings West’s seven-point win over Helena High—the rest of the games were dominated by the leading teams.

Looking to the upcoming games, Helena Capital is set to face Missoula Sentinel, trying to bounce back after a narrow loss last season. In Class A, East Helena is making waves, coming off a resounding 54-8 win, and they will challenge the strong Billings Central next.

In Class B play, things are heating up as Fairview continues to roll, averaging an impressive 62.5 points per game, demonstrating why they are the state champions. Meanwhile, Belt is also performing well, boasting a perfect record and a strong defense allowing only eight points during the season.

For the 8-Man and 6-Man divisions, two anticipated matchups are coming up, highlighted by Belt facing Fort Benton and Box Elder taking on Chester-Joplin-Inverness. As schools prepare for their next battles, the competition looks fierce, and every game counts as teams aim for playoff spots.

The Montana high school football scene is gearing up for what promises to be an action-packed season, filled with surprises and standout performances. Stay tuned as we see how these teams perform in the coming weeks!
