Community Mourning Following Tragic Loss of High School Quarterback

SELMA, Alabama – The small community of Selma is in mourning following the tragic death of a local high school quarterback, 16-year-old Caden Tellier, who suffered a serious brain injury during a football game last Friday night. The incident occurred during the season opener for John T. Morgan Academy as they faced Southern Academy. Following the injury, Tellier was rushed to the hospital where he was reported to be in critical condition, but unfortunately, his death was confirmed the next day.

Caden Tellier’s parents released a heartfelt statement mourning their son, saying, “Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face. Everyone who knows Caden has known kindness, generosity, and love, and true to his nature, he is giving of himself one more time.” In a touching revelation, it was noted that Caden was an organ donor, which his family highlighted as a way he continues to help others even after his passing. His parents expressed that, “Lives have been touched by the way he lived and now lives will be saved through his passing.”

According to the school’s headmaster, Bryan Oliver, Tellier was a “shining light” at Morgan Academy. He described Caden as not only a dedicated student and athlete, but also as a devoted follower of his faith. The headmaster stated, “There are no words to describe how we feel as a school community and family.”

Out of respect for Tellier and his family, Morgan Academy has suspended all school activities for the week while arrangements for a memorial service are being made. The entire community is coming together to support each other during this difficult time, holding onto memories of a young man who touched so many lives.
