Tragic Loss: Morgan Academy Quarterback Caden Tellier Passes Away After Brain Injury During Game

Selma, Alabama – Caden Tellier, the quarterback for Morgan Academy, tragically passed away on Saturday after suffering a severe brain injury during his team’s home opener against Southern Academy on Friday night. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news through social media on Saturday evening.

In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Caden’s parents, Arsella Slagel Tellier and Jamie Tellier, wrote, “Our boy, Caden Tellier has met Jesus face to face.” They expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and prayers they have received, stating, “We appreciate all of your prayers and we covet them for the hard days ahead.”

The post further described Caden’s character, saying, “Everyone who knows Caden has known kindness, generosity, and love, and true to his nature, he is giving of himself one more time. Lives have been touched by the way he lived and now lives will be saved through his passing.” The family is currently making arrangements for a service, which will be announced soon.

The incident occurred during the third quarter of Friday night’s game, after which Caden was airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham. Initially, there was some confusion about his condition. The director of the Alabama Independent Schools Association posted on social media stating that Caden had died, but shortly after, that information was retracted, and it was clarified that he was in critical condition due to a brain injury.

In response to this tragedy, Morgan Academy announced it would be suspending all school activities for the upcoming week, allowing the community to grieve and support one another during this difficult time.
