Exciting Start to the High School Football Season
Las Vegas— The 2024 high school football season has kicked off, and fans have been treated to an action-packed start across multiple states. Last week saw the first round of games, shaking up the latest On3 Massey Ratings top 25 rankings.
One of the standout performances came from Bishop Gorman, who secured a convincing victory over Kahuku, a team that was previously ranked No. 1 in Hawaii. With a final score of 33-7, junior Jett Washington stepped up as a star, making two interceptions to lead the team’s tough defense. Bishop Gorman will face another challenge this Saturday when they head to Florida to take on No. 22, St. Thomas Aquinas.
Meanwhile, Corner Canyon and Colquitt County, the preseason favorites from Utah and Georgia respectively, also began their seasons with straightforward wins. Corner Canyon stunned their opponents with a remarkable 70 points in their season opener.
Sierra Canyon made a splash as one of the newcomers in the rankings after a significant road win against Punahou in Hawaii. This victory has energized the team as they look to maintain momentum.

Some of the nation’s top programs are gearing up for their first games of the season, including Mater Dei, which will take on No. 12 Centennial at home in what promises to be a thrilling in-state matchup. Also, the defending champions Duncanville have their sights set on a three-peat, kicking off their season on September 6 against South Oak Cliff.
As for the players to watch, Husan Longstreet, the five-star quarterback for North Shore, is expected to make a game-time decision to return against South Oak Cliff. The anticipation is high for upcoming clashes, especially with several programs pursuing championships this season.
