Arlington High School Football Stars Commit to Colleges Following Successful Fall Season

In the lively city of Arlington, excitement is in the air as several talented seniors from local football teams have officially made their college commitments after an exhilarating fall season. These young athletes have not only made their families proud but also left a mark on their high schools that will be remembered for years to come.

Yorktown Patriots Shining Bright

Among the standout players is Drew Morgan, the sensational quarterback from the Yorktown Patriots, who has chosen to continue his football journey at Division III Kenyon College. This past season was phenomenal for Morgan, who threw for an impressive 1,948 yards and found the end zone 16 times through the air. Not stopping there, he also showcased his versatility with 49 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. His leadership on the field was a significant factor in helping the Patriots earn a spot in the 6D North Region playoffs.

In his junior year, Morgan was already making waves, passing for a total of 654 yards and five touchdowns over nine games. But he wasn’t alone in his success; two of his key targets are also making headlines with their college commitments. Finn Luca, a wide receiver, will take his skills to Division III Dickinson College. Luca had a stellar season himself, recording 48 receptions for 926 yards and seven touchdowns, plus three rushing touchdowns to boot!

Not to be outdone, tight end/running back Max Troiano has committed to play at Division I Elon University. Troiano finished the season with 20 catches for 319 yards and five touchdowns, in addition to running for 382 yards and scoring four rushing touchdowns. Their contributions helped pave the way for an inspiring season!

Strong Defense from Washington-Liberty

Meanwhile, players from Washington-Liberty High School are also making their marks in college football. Defensive stalwarts Ben Hughes and Sean Guffey will head to Division I Sacred Heart University, while Michael Barber has committed to Division III Randolph-Macon College. These players played instrumental roles in leading W-L to victory in the Liberty District championship with an impressive season record of 12-1.

The hard work of these individuals has contributed significantly to Washington-Liberty’s success, as coach Josh Shapiro emphasized the importance of these players in achieving a combined regular-season record of 19-1 over two years – an astounding feat!

Future for Other Teams

As the excitement continues, coaches from Bishop O’Connell and Wakefield have indicated that some of their players are still weighing their college options. It seems there may be more announcements just around the corner!

In exciting coaching news, Yorktown’s new head coach Alec Hicks is currently finalizing the coaching staff, welcoming Tom Norton as the offensive coordinator and Evan Ruffner as the defensive coordinator. Hicks takes the reins from Bruce Hanson, who recently retired after a remarkable coaching career.

As this chapter closes and a new one begins, the future looks bright for these talented individuals. The journey to college football is just the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling adventure for Arlington’s young stars. Congratulations to all the players on their achievements, and best of luck in their forthcoming college careers!
