Buffalo Bills Continue to Search for Wide Receiver Solutions

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Bills are still on the lookout for additional wide receiver talent, despite recent moves aimed at bolstering their roster. The team recently signed Khalil Shakir to a four-year, $53 million contract and added Joshua Palmer from the Los Angeles Chargers for three years at $36 million. However, the Bills currently feature only eight total receivers on their 90-man roster, signaling a likely need for further depth in this position.

Adding to the urgency is the recent report from Matthew Berry, a notable sports analyst, who indicated that a former Bills receiver might be “done” after ten seasons in the league. This news comes in the wake of the Bills trading away star wideout Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans last year, which clearly highlighted the team’s need for a prototypical “X” receiver.

Last season, General Manager Brandon Beane made the move to acquire Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns, giving up two draft picks in the process. Though Cooper was on the last year of his contract and is now a free agent, the chances of him rejoining the Bills seem slim, especially with hints from a coach connected to Cooper’s past teams suggesting he may be finished playing.

Despite what appeared to be a lackluster season for Cooper in the statistics, he made some crucial plays during his time in Buffalo. Notably, he was involved in a pivotal moment that led to a touchdown for Josh Allen, showcasing his ability to come through when it mattered most. In his eight games with the Bills, he recorded 20 catches for 297 yards and two touchdowns, adding another six receptions for 41 yards in three playoff games.

As the Bills prepare for the upcoming season, it remains uncertain where they will find an additional receiver. The team is likely to explore options available through free agency or the NFL Draft to strengthen their ranks at wide receiver.
