Buffalo Bills Facing Suspensions with New Signings
Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Bills are dealing with some significant news regarding their recent signings. General manager Brandon Beane announced on Friday that free-agent signings Mike Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi will face six-game suspensions for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
Beane revealed that the team was aware of Hoecht’s suspension before signing him but did not know about Ogunjobi’s suspension when they agreed to his contract earlier this week. Ogunjobi learned about his situation after their agreement but notified the team before the news was publicly reported. Beane noted that the contracts were agreed upon before Ogunjobi was made aware of the suspension.
Hoecht made headlines by signing a three-year contract worth up to $24 million on the first day of the league’s negotiating window. Ogunjobi, on the other hand, secured a one-year deal that includes $8 million guaranteed. In a press conference, Ogunjobi expressed full accountability regarding his suspension, and he stated that he found out about it around the same time he agreed to terms with the Bills.
Hoecht also took responsibility for his suspension, noting that it was due to not verifying the substances he was taking. “It was careless, it was reckless,” Hoecht admitted. He started his career with the Rams, playing four seasons and recording 13.5 sacks over 68 games, including 31 starts.
In other NFL news, the Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement with former Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp on a three-year, $45 million contract. The Cincinnati Bengals are making progress with contract extensions for both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, which could be finalized soon.
The Dallas Cowboys continue to strengthen their defense by signing pass rusher Dante Fowler to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million. Meanwhile, Browns’ star defender Myles Garrett is not regretting his previous trade request and remains focused on bringing a Super Bowl to Cleveland.
As the offseason unfolds, various teams are making strategic moves to boost their rosters. Notably, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed Gardner Minshew as a backup for Patrick Mahomes, showcasing their commitment to depth and performance as they look ahead to the season.
As the situation develops, fans will be keen to see how these suspensions may affect the Bills’ season and how the team will navigate the challenges ahead.
