NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University is gearing up for an exciting event as they prepare to host a Watch Party for the NCAA Selection Show for both the men’s and women’s tennis teams on Monday, April 28. The women’s tennis selection show will kick off at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s show at 5:30 p.m.. This event will take place in the APR room at the LR Hill Sports Complex.
Doors for the event will open at 4:30 p.m., and attendees can find parking available in Lot 43. The best part? The event is free and open to the public, making it an excellent opportunity for fans and supporters to come together and cheer on their teams.
Both ODU tennis teams have had an impressive season. The men’s tennis team secured their spot in the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year after a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Championship match held last Sunday. A highlight of the match was when Jean-Karim Olivier de Sardan clinched the win with a decisive match at No. 5 singles. Currently, the men’s team holds a record of 17-8 for the season and achieved a remarkable 7-0 in the regular season, winning their third straight Sun Belt Conference title.
On the women’s side, the team also celebrated success by capturing their fifth straight conference title and their third consecutive Sun Belt Championship with a 4-1 win over Marshall last Sunday. The crucial victory was secured when Lidiia Rasskouskaia won at No. 3 singles with a score of 7-6, 6-2. The women’s team has an outstanding record of 19-4 and went undefeated in the SBC regular season at 11-0.
