In the charming city of Portsmouth, there’s a lot to celebrate this week as two exceptional high school athletes have been honored as Seacoast Athletes of the Week for April 14-19. Sharing the spotlight are Raegan Lawton from Portsmouth High School and Finley De Tolla from St. Thomas Aquinas. These young athletes have showcased their incredible talents and team spirit, making waves in their respective sports!

Raegan Lawton: A Force on the Lacrosse Field

Let’s shine the spotlight first on Raegan Lawton! This talented young lady took home the award for the girls’ category with a stunning total of 312 votes, accounting for nearly 42 percent of the online votes. What a feat!

Lawton has made quite the impression on the lacrosse field this season. In a recent Division I matchup against Winnacunnet, she scored a total of three goals and provided two assists, leading her team to a decisive 17-6 victory. Before that, she also made her mark in Portsmouth’s opening game with an impressive 18-4 win over Hollis-Brookline where she netted a goal!

Her head coach couldn’t be happier with her performance and character, praising her not only as a hard worker but also as an outstanding teammate. It’s clear that Lawton is not just playing the game, she’s elevating her entire team with her contributions!

Finley De Tolla: Dominating the Competition

Now turning our attention to Finley De Tolla, the star player on St. Thomas Aquinas’s boys’ lacrosse team. He beat out Somersworth baseball player Simon Grandmaison by a narrow margin!

Finley kicked off the season with a bang, scoring a jaw-dropping six goals in a thrilling 12-9 victory against Division I Londonderry. He followed that up impressively in the next game with four goals and four assists during a nail-biting 12-11 overtime loss to Goffstown. In the girls’ category, Elizabeth Pelletier from St. Thomas Aquinas secured second place, receiving 180 votes. She also stood out with her impressive performance, recording multiple hits and RBIs in recent games!

Other notable performances came from athletes like Hayden Schimoler and Evan Weete, who showcased their exceptional skills in baseball and tennis, respectively, while Sophia Luchette wowed fans with her fantastic four goals in York’s recent win.
