Scheduled to take place from May 1-3 in beautiful Austin, all eyes are on these young stars as they showcase their skills at one of the biggest state competitions of the year.

Journey to the State Meet

The journey to Austin was no easy feat. These athletes had to earn their spots by shining at regional meets held in Lubbock and Arlington. Specifically, the athletes competed in the Classes 4A, 5A, and 6A events, with only the top two finishers in each event having the privilege of securing an automatic berth to the state competition. To add a little thrill, athletes also had the chance to grab a wild card spot based on their best marks in various events that were measured across four regions.

For the grande finale at the UIL state meet, fans can anticipate nine competitors in each event, promising a thrilling atmosphere as the best of the best go head-to-head for track glory.

Franklin Boys Make History

In a standout achievement, the boys’ track and field team from Franklin High School made headlines by clinching the Region 1-6A title. With a total of 40 points earned through their stellar performances, they finished just a point ahead of Allen. This victory not only marks the first-ever regional title win for Franklin but also represents a significant milestone as they become the first team from El Paso to secure a title in Region 1-6A.

To reach this impressive milestone, the Cougars showcased their speed and teamwork in relay events, racking up a phenomenal 20 points for each win. It’s a testament to their hard work and dedication, and the buzz around their success can be felt throughout the community.
