Ripon High School Track Team Shines at ECC Indoor Meet

If you’ve been following the local sports scene, you know that the Ripon High School track teams have been gearing up for an exciting season. Last week, they took to the track at the ECC Indoor Meet held at the scenic Ripon College’s Willmore Center. The results are in, and they reveal a whole lot of promise for the season ahead!

Girls’ Team Steals the Spotlight

The girls’ team certainly made their mark, finishing in a commendable third place overall, scoring a total of 41 points. They came in behind Kettle Moraine Lutheran, who took home first place, and just 31 points shy of the second-place team, Berlin. This solid performance is fueling their ambition to finish within the top half of the East Central Conference by the end of the season.

The standout moment for the girls came from the incredible 4×800-meter relay team, consisting of Libby Gatzke, Amelia Long, Leah Page, and Adeline Baird. They surged ahead, clinching first place with a remarkable time of 10:46.83, leaving their competitors in the dust by nearly 13 seconds!

Relay Success Across the Board

But that wasn’t all. The girls’ 4×200 relay team also dazzled, narrowly securing victory against Plymouth with a finish time of 1:55.72—a thrilling .5 seconds win! Both the boys’ and girls’ teams showed their mettle in the 4×400 relays, with notable performances from a variety of talented athletes, including Keagen Propson and Harrison Julian.

Strong Showings from the Boys

Over on the boys’ side, the team secured a fourth place finish out of seven competing schools. They trailed runner-up Plymouth by a slim margin of just 11 points, while Winneconne took the crown for boys with an impressive 184 points. The boys certainly showed their grit, with 13 athletes medaling in the top three and recording a total of 32 personal records.

A highlight for the boys was the thrilling triple jump, where Keaton Kuncl and Zach Kelm clutched the top two spots, jumping distances of 39 feet, 1 inch and 38-2.25 respectively. Additionally, in the long jump event, three Ripon athletes landed in the top eight. Propson seized third place with a personal best of 19-11.5!

Adversity Met with Resilience
