High Hopes and High Jumps
One of the highlights of the day came from Clare Walker, who tied her personal record by successfully vaulting 9 feet, securing a commendable third place in her division. Walker’s jump was a clear indication of her potential as the season unfolds, showing that hard work pays off.
Overall, the boys’ team placed seventh out of twelve small division schools with a respectable 39.5 points, while the girls’ team outshone many to secure a fifth-place finish, amassing 60 points. The competition welcomed schools from all over, including Wisconsin Lutheran, Stevens Point, Winneconne, and Marquette University, providing an exhilarating atmosphere for both competitors and fans alike.
A Day of Personal Bests
The Ripon athletes certainly didn’t shy away from seizing the moment! Reese Brooks was a standout performer, smashing her own records in both the long jump and triple jump. She soared an impressive 16 feet, 0.5 inches for second place in the long jump and landed a solid 33 feet, 5 inches in the triple jump for a third-place finish. Brooks even pushed her limits in the 60 hurdles, wrapping up in sixth among small-division athletes.
Meanwhile, the boys’ 4×800-meter relay team, consisting of Aidan Ruedinger, Vicente Beltran, Jason Vega, and Cyan Volkmann, showed impressive teamwork and strategy as they raced their way to a second-place finish with a time of 9 minutes, 21.45 seconds. In the individual sprints, Keagen Propson secured a third-place win in the 400-meter run with a swift time of 56.26 seconds, while teammate Jason Vega wasn’t far behind, finishing fourth.
Girls Stealing the Show
The ladies made quite the mark, too! A stunning contribution came from Adeline Baird, who finished third in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:36.84. The girls’ team also showcased depth in their sprinting events. Victoria Rivera managed to grab fourth-place finishes in both the 60 and 200 dashes, clocking in at 8.61 and 28.66 seconds, respectively. Adding to the lineup, Alyssa Bradley charged through her 400-meter competition to finish in fourth with a time of 1:07.63.
The girls also put together a solid relay performance, securing fifth in both the 4×400 relay team and the 4×800 relay, showing their ability to work together effectively to achieve great results. Emma Resop also excelled, coming in sixth in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 8 inches.
