News Summary
As the spring season approaches, the Kingston High School golf teams are preparing for an exciting competitive year. Both the boys and girls squads are practicing at the Wiltwyck Golf Club. The boys team, boasting a strong returning lineup, aims to improve from last year’s record, while the girls team embraces fresh talent amidst the absence of seniors. With matches scheduled soon, anticipation builds for the performances ahead and the camaraderie amongst players.
Kingston High Golf Teams Prepare for Upcoming Season Amidst Chilly Conditions
As spring graces Kingston with its gradually warming temperatures, the Kingston High School golfers are shaking off the winter chill and diving into their practice routines at the picturesque Wiltwyck Golf Club. Despite the brisk weather, both the boys and girls squads are filled with excitement and determination as they gear up for what promises to be an exhilarating season of golf.
Season Kicks Off Soon
The golf season is just around the corner, with Kingston ready to tee off against Livingston Manor on April 3 at the scenic Green Acres Golf Course in Kingston. This match marks the beginning of the competitive circuit, and the Kingston teams are eager to showcase their skills and camaraderie.
Boys Team Ready for Action
The boys team is under the capable guidance of coach Juan Weissenberg, who is brimming with confidence about the upcoming season. One of the biggest advantages this year is that the entire starting lineup from last year’s team has returned, presenting a unique opportunity for continuity and growth. Notably, some of the top performers from last season included Thomas Lasecki, Austin Hand, and Jack O’Reilly, with Antonio Cecelia also playing a pivotal role.
Among the squad, sophomore Austin Hand has made substantial improvements and is expected to shine this year, while Jack O’Reilly has become a familiar face at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Golf Championships for the last two years running. With O’Reilly and Lasecki entering their final year and Cecelia still a junior, the boys team is both experienced and brimming with potential.
Additionally, Andre Miller, another sophomore who showed great promise last season, is aiming for qualification in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Golf Championships this time around. The competition on the roster extends to eighth-grader Jameson Beesmer and senior Sam Kovaleski, both of whom are vying for starting spots. Weissenberg is optimistic about a stronger performance, eyeing a better record than last season’s 6-9 dual-meet standings.
First Matches Ahead
The boys are set to take the course against Goshen at Wiltwyck on April 7, and fans are excited to see how the returning players will blend with the fresh talent within the team.
Girls Team Embracing Youthful Energy
Fresh faces are joining the ranks as well. Freshmen Chloe Tampasis and Summer O’Reilly have shown great potential in early practices, adding some exciting new energy to the team dynamics. Last season, the girls finished with an impressive 8-6 record, and they are eager to build upon that as they prepare to face John S. Burke Catholic and Sullivan West on April 8 at the lovely Hickory Hill Golf Course in Warwick.
Anticipation Builds
Despite the absence of any seniors this year, expectations remain sky-high for the girls team. The combination of young talent and experienced coaching ensures that the season ahead is filled with possibilities. With the weather warming up and competition on the horizon, Kingston High golfers are set to tackle the season head-on, ready to make their mark on the green!
