Cleveland Browns Discuss Future at NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach

Palm Beach, Fla. – As the NFL gathered for its Annual Meeting, Andrew Berry, the Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager of the Cleveland Browns, took time to meet with local reporters on Sunday. The discussions focused on several important topics, particularly the upcoming No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Berry provided updates on the quarterback position, free agency signings, and the team’s draft strategy.

Currently, the Browns are evaluating prospects through a series of collegiate pro days and workouts. Berry mentioned that these visits have been productive, stating, “We use the visits for different purposes depending on the prospect. With quarterbacks, we want to spend as much time as possible.” He emphasized the importance of understanding a prospect’s football knowledge and physical abilities, as well as their support systems. As evaluations near completion, Berry expressed optimism regarding the insights gathered from these assessment opportunities.

As the Browns look ahead to the draft, Berry highlighted that they have 10 picks, including the coveted No. 2 overall pick. However, he indicated that although the team is considering various options for the pick, a trade up to the No. 1 spot is “unlikely.” He clarified that while acquiring a quarterback is an option, the selection does not necessarily have to be a quarterback.

The Browns have been active in free agency, signing multiple players to bolster their roster. New additions include defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas, linebacker Devin Bush, and defensive tackle Maliek Collins. Berry noted the goal of these signings is to enhance depth at crucial positions.

On the quarterback front, the Browns have added Kenny Pickett, who was acquired from the Eagles after the offseason began. With Deshaun Watson facing a significant recovery due to an Achilles injury, Pickett is now in a prime position to compete for the starting job. Berry expressed confidence in Pickett’s abilities, stating that he has made solid decisions, protects the ball well, and is mobile, which should align well with the team’s offensive plans.

As the offseason advances, the Browns remain focused on refining their roster and preparing for the draft. Berry concluded by ensuring fans that the organization is committed to making well-informed decisions, taking advantage of the time available leading up to the draft to shape the team’s future.
