Denver Broncos Climb in ESPN’s NFL Power Rankings Following Free Agency Moves

The Denver Broncos have received a boost in ESPN’s latest NFL power rankings, landing at No. 12 overall. This is a jump of two spots from their previous position, reflecting the team’s steady improvements during free agency. According to beat reporter Jeff Legwold, the re-signing of offensive tackle Matt Peart stands out as a key “under-the-radar move” for the Broncos.

Legwold noted that while Peart’s signing may not have garnered significant attention, he has established himself as a dependable swing tackle. Last season, Peart made two starts against the Chargers and also played as a right tackle and an extra blocking tight end. Following a blocked field goal against the Chiefs, Peart even moved onto the kicking units. With Peart joining starters Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey, along with Alex Palczewski, the Broncos have solidified their tackle lineup, highlighting their strength in the offensive line as one of the best in the league during 2024.

This comes after the Broncos made several moves to reshape their team. They retained valuable free agents, including defensive lineman D.J. Jones, quarterback Jarrett Stidham, inside linebacker Justin Strnad, and long snapper Mitch Fraboni. Additionally, the team added a number of new players like linebacker Dre Greenlaw, safety Talanoa Hufanga, tight end Evan Engram, wide receiver Trent Sherfield, and punter Matt Haack.

Looking ahead, the Broncos’ prospects for 2025 are looking bright, with some national rankings placing them as the No. 8 team overall, making them the fourth-best in the AFC. This comes after an impressive defensive showing in 2024, where the team ranked second in expected points added (EPA) allowed per play. The addition of Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw aims to build on this strength, even though both players struggled with injuries last season.

As the NFL draft approaches, the Broncos have a chance to strengthen their offense further. While they made strides in free agency, there remains work to be done to enhance their offensive capabilities. Bo Nix showed promise as a young quarterback, but he will need more playmakers to support his growth.
