Community Events to Mark on Your Calendar
As the dust settles from the tournament triumphs, Utopia School is gearing up for a series of exciting community events. Starting on March 24, families are invited to explore the Book Fair, which promises to stoke a love of reading among children and parents alike. This event will be followed by a special grandparents lunch on March 26, offering a cozy gathering for families.
Don’t forget to mark Thursday, March 27, on your calendar for Family Afternoon, which will conclude at 6 p.m., providing lots of fun for everyone!
Annual Community Auction Awaits
Looking ahead, the annual Community Auction is set for April 5 in the Town Square. Residents are encouraged to bring donations to the Community Center on April 3, as volunteers will be on hand to help load larger items. This lively gathering promises competitive bidding, which is always a blast! Proceeds from the auction benefit local heroes, including the EMS, fire department, and our beloved parks. Just a note: the previous live animal sales at the auction are no longer a thing, ensuring a great auction atmosphere without any critters on the block.
Gardening and Environmental Updates
As spring rolls in, residents are finding joy in gardening, shaking off the winter blues. The Utopia Organic Gardens recently sold tomatoes and peppers, providing green-thumbed enthusiasts with new additions for their gardens. However, the changing weather has been a bit wild, with fluctuating temperatures creating drought concerns. Fortunately, residents remain resilient. Water access continues to be stable, even amidst chatter regarding some neighboring wells running dry.
Educational Excursions and Honors
In the world of education, Jessica Valadez, a fourth-grade teacher at Utopia School, and her students participated in the Celebrate Texas event at the Sabinal Canyon Museum, learning about local history. Students created posters about the exhibits they visited, adding a fun, creative twist to their learning.
Meanwhile, congratulations are in order for Wyatt Willis from Utopia School, who has been selected for the prestigious University of Texas Jackson School of Geosciences GeoForce program. This is a fantastic opportunity for him!
And let’s not forget the exciting win by Kinsley Cox and Lawson Leavelle in mixed doubles at the Brackettville Tennis Tournament, as well as the success of the varsity boys’ track team at their first meet of the season in Medina!
With so much happening in Utopia, it’s clear that this vibrant community is both active and thriving. Stay tuned for more news as these exciting events unfold!
