Baseball Highlights

Baseball fans were treated to some spectacular plays. One of the most talked-about performances came from Cole Baren of Clark High School, who had an impressive outing going 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and a whopping 3 RBIs in the Chargers’ commanding win over Desert Pines, finishing the game with a score of 12-2.

Meanwhile, Hogan Hawkins from Silverado was a true powerhouse against Shadow Ridge, hitting 2 triples and driving in 4 RBIs as the Skyhawks celebrated a crushing victory of 16-0.

In a standout pitching performance, Joseph Luna, a freshman for Del Sol, turned heads by striking out 12 batters and pitching a complete game, leading his squad to an 11-1 win over Valley.

Seniors were shining as well! David Paiz from Legacy pitched brilliantly for 4 scoreless innings, racking up 6 strikeouts in a dominant win against Rancho with a final score of 11-0. Charlie Simi of Bishop Gorman showcased his skills with a phenomenal 3-for-3 performance that included 1 home run and 5 RBIs, leading the Gaels to a 9-5 victory over Coronado.

Not to be outdone, Hailey Smith from Centennial sent two balls over the fence contributing to her team’s 16-6 triumph against Faith Lutheran, while Lexi St. Pierre from SLAM Nevada went flawless at the plate with 3 hits and 4 RBIs, helping the Bulls to a commanding 15-0 victory over Western.

Boys Volleyball Highlights

Shifting gears to volleyball, it was a busy day with lots of action. Miles Boquiren of Bishop Gorman racked up 21 assists in a tough match, but unfortunately, the team faced a 1-3 defeat against Foothill.

On a brighter note, Zelworth Chavis from Liberty contributed with 10 assists and 4 kills to help the Patriots secure a 3-0 victory against Desert Oasis.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Gutierrez of Western proved instrumental with 4 assists and 3 aces as his team triumphed over Canyon Springs, also with a score of 3-0. Hayden Mauro of Foothill was impressive on the attack, recording 10 kills in a solid win against Bishop Gorman.

Lastly, Isaiah Moore from Legacy made a commendable effort with 17 assists and 13 kills, although the Longhorns fell short against Cimarron-Memorial in a close match that ended 2-3.
