Georgetown, Texas – Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has had an assault charge against him dismissed, according to recent jail records. Worthy was arrested on Friday night and booked at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office for a criminal charge involving assault against a family or household member that allegedly impeded their breathing or circulation.

Following the arrest, updates to jailhouse records revealed that the Williamson County District Attorney’s office has chosen not to pursue the case. District Attorney Shawn Dick informed local media that this decision came after reviewing evidence and speaking with multiple witnesses. He stated they would not be accepting the case “pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.” Dick also mentioned that if new evidence comes to light indicating probable cause, the case could eventually be taken to a grand jury.

After the initial incident, Worthy’s attorneys released a statement asserting that they are cooperating with law enforcement. They claimed the complainant had been asked multiple times to leave Worthy’s residence and had refused. The statement also mentioned that video evidence exists of the complainant’s alleged infidelity, and they noted that the complainant had caused damage to the property and had physically harmed Worthy during the incident. Additionally, Worthy reportedly did not wish to press charges against the complainant at the time.

The Chiefs have stated that they are aware of the situation and are in communication with authorities regarding the matter. Worthy, who is 21 years old, was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he was the leading receiver for the Chiefs, recording 59 receptions, 638 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. He also performed well in Super Bowl LIX, making eight catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns.
