FREWSBURG, NY – The excitement is palpable as the talented swimmers from the Frewsburg/Falconer/Jamestown/Southwestern team get ready to make waves at the NYSPHSAA Swimming & Diving Championships. On March 7, 2025, the spirited athletes, including Miles Moore, Conner Dean, Grady Moore, Landon Frederes, and Daniel Peterson, were given a rousing send-off by their enthusiastic peers from Southwestern and Frewsburg high schools. This season has been nothing short of extraordinary for our local swimmers, as they have achieved top rankings in multiple events across Western New York. Coached by the legendary Bruce Johnson, who boasts a remarkable 47 years at the helm, this team is ready to defend its title in the 200-yard freestyle relay while also aiming for victories in all three relay events at the championships. Coach Johnson, recognized as a member of the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, has played an instrumental role in shaping these athletes into the formidable competitors they are today.

Ready to Rock the Relays

As they head into the state meet, the confidence of the team is bolstered by their impressive rankings. They currently hold the top position in both the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:33.99 and the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3:08.96. Furthermore, they are ranked second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where they clocked in at 1:26.42. Last year’s state meet saw this relay team setting an astonishing NYSPHSAA record time of 1:24.05 in the same event, which undoubtedly adds motivation for this year’s meet.
