It’s been a thrilling Friday for high school basketball fans across Oklahoma, as the Area playoffs kicked off in style! With teams battling it out for a chance to advance in the tournament, let’s take a look at some of the highlights from each area.

Area I at Enid

In a nail-biter, Wyandotte narrowly defeated Morrison with a score of 51-49! It was a game nobody wanted to miss as both teams fought hard to secure their spot. Meanwhile, Hooker showcased their talent against Fairland, winning the match 52-37. On the girls’ side, Oklahoma Bible triumphed over Fairview with a solid score of 56-39, while Okemah emerged victorious against Hooker at 41-28.

Area II at Chickasha

Over in Chickasha, Riverside had an impressive outing, beating Vanoss convincingly at 65-45. Hartshorne had a close call, sneaking past Frederick with a final score of 49-48. For the girls, Merritt secured a win over Walters at 39-29, and Hartshorne continued their success, taking down Riverside 76-60.

Area III at McAlester

McAlester saw Oktaha come out on top against Central Sallisaw with a score of 47-40. Additionally, Dale made a statement by defeating Rejoice Christian 62-38. The girls’ matches were just as competitive, with Calera edging Rejoice Christian at 57-47 and Dale finishing strong with a 45-41 victory over Howe.

Area IV at Mvskoke Dome (Okmulgee)

In Okmulgee, Preston and Latta faced off in a tight game, with Preston pulling out a 57-53 win. Pocola also recorded a solid victory over Cashion at 49-42. In the girls’ brackets, Cashion bested Stratford at 46-35, and Latta exhibited grit in their win against Pocola, squeezing by with a score of 52-50.

Cleveland’s games included an exciting match where Summit Christian bested Wesleyan Christian, finishing 51-42. Okarche had a dominant performance against Red Oak, winning 88-51, while the girls’ games saw Okarche score a close 23-18 victory over Mooreland, and Seiling besting Red Oak at 54-47.

Area II at Cache

Cache welcomed some fierce competitions as Caddo took down Thomas in a tightly contested match, ending 46-39. Sterling had a memorable victory, winning against Oklahoma Christian Academy 58-51. On the girls’ side, Alex faced off against Empire, winning 50-38, while Amber-Pocasset defeated Caddo 48-38.

Area III at Noble

Noble saw Allen pull together a close game against Wright City, winning 60-56. Cyril had an even more intense game, defeating Rattan in overtime with a score of 64-60! In the girls’ tournament, Cyril secured a comfortable win over Wellston at 52-29, while Allen comfortably won against Wright City at 61-31.

Area IV at Stroud

In Stroud, Texhoma managed to edge The Academy with a final score of 38-37. Meanwhile, Okay earned a win by narrowly defeating SW Covenant 46-43. Girls’ matchups included Cheyenne/Reydon taking down Waukomis at 46-41, and Quinton winning against Canute 43-36.

Area I at Stride Center (Enid)

At the Stride Center in Enid, DC-Lamont celebrated a victory against Lomega with a score of 65-60, while Calumet went on to crush Frontier at 79-38. The girls also brought their A-game, with Leedey winning against Frontier at 55-35 and Arnett defeating Lomega 61-46.

Area II at Bridge Creek

Bridge Creek kicked things off with Granite trumping Erick with a score of 71-56. Hammon pulled ahead of Duke at 48-43. On the girls’ front, Geronimo defeated Balko/Forgan 50-35, and Hammon annihilated Chattanooga 44-17.

Area III at Ada

Ada had its own exciting matches, with Asher defeating Smithville 47-36 and Stuart winning against Braggs 36-16. On the ladies’ side, Stringtown pulled off a great 50-26 against Buffalo Valley, while Kiowa celebrated a win over Smithville at 56-22.

Area IV at Seminole
