Buffalo, NY – The Baltimore Ravens had their playoff dreams dashed on a tense Saturday night, falling to the Buffalo Bills with a final score of 27-25. The crunch came late in the fourth quarter when the Ravens’ tight end, Mark Andrews, dropped a critical pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson during a two-point conversion attempt. This missed opportunity would have tied the game and kept their hopes alive.
Jackson had led the team’s offense well throughout the game, throwing for two touchdowns and one interception. Despite this, former NFL quarterback and analyst Chris Simms expressed that Jackson also shares responsibility for the loss. He pointed out that Jackson’s pass was not delivered accurately, stating, “That ball needs to be on time, and it was not accurate.”
The Ravens had to go for an onside kick following the failed conversion, but the Bills recovered effortlessly. Quarterback Josh Allen then secured the win for Buffalo by taking a couple of kneel-downs, securing their spot in the AFC Championship game.
Simms’s insights also highlighted how the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, managed to call a great play. “What I’m saying is that Mark Andrews in the meeting today with Baltimore is going to get a negative grade for the drop, but also, Lamar Jackson’s going to get a negative grade for this throw,” he noted.
Following the game, Jackson stood by his teammate. He stressed the importance of teamwork, saying, “We’re a team. It’s not his fault. We’re not gonna put that on Mark.” The Ravens will have to pick up the pieces as they look forward to the 2025 season.
