USC Women’s Lacrosse Prepares for Big Ten Challenge with New Lineup and Renewed Determination

Los Angeles, CA – USC women’s lacrosse is gearing up for an important season as they prepare to enter the Big Ten for the first time. The Trojans, who finished the 2024 season with a 12-5 record, including a strong 6-1 in the Pac-12, are set to make some significant adjustments this year. Head Coach Lindsey Munday and her team are ready to tackle the challenges that come with a new conference.

Last season ended on a sour note for the Trojans. A tough loss to Colorado in the semifinals of the Pac-12 tournament dashed their hopes for a championship. As the 2025 season approaches, the Trojans face a steep hill as they will begin the journey with a largely new lineup. The departure of three out of the top five goal scorers, including standout Ella Heaney, who was named the Pac-12 Attacker of the Year, leaves gaps that need to be filled.

The defensive part of the game is also under pressure as the team loses both the starting goalie, Kait Devir, and key defender Danielle Carson, who recorded 18 caused turnovers last season. However, the team is not without hope. Veteran players like Isabelle Vitale, who led the team in scoring last year with 23 goals and 41 assists, are stepping up. Vitale is also building new relationships with younger teammates who are ready to make an impact.

Exciting new talent is coming on board as freshmen join the squad. Kaylee Fravert, Alexis May, and Coco Hauck all have the skills and drive needed to immediately contribute on the field, with Fravert showcasing a strong lacrosse IQ and the ability to play multiple positions. Coach Munday emphasizes the importance of teamwork and connection as they prepare for what’s ahead.

This year, every game holds extra importance since they’ll face traditional powerhouses like Maryland, Northwestern, and emerging teams like Johns Hopkins and Michigan in the Big Ten. Munday remains optimistic, stating, “Every game is a big game in the Big Ten,” highlighting the need for their best effort each match.

As they take on this new chapter in their program’s history, the Women of Troy are set to prove their resilience and determination. With a positive mindset and a deep commitment to their goals, the Trojans are ready to face whatever comes their way.
