Fort Worth’s Star-Telegram All-Area Team Unveiled

Fort Worth is buzzing this January with the announcement of the Star-Telegram All-Area football team. This year, standout players from various schools have made their mark, with some exceptional talent recognized in individual awards and team selections.

Leading the pack is Quentin Gibson, a senior wide receiver from North Crowley, who has been named Player of the Year for his incredible performance throughout the season. Following closely is Cardea Collier, a senior quarterback from Alvarado, who earned the title of Offensive Player of the Year. Meanwhile, Ja’Brelle Asberry from North Crowley was honored as Defensive Player of the Year.

In the Newcomer of the Year category, Blake Gunter from Southlake Carroll has made a significant impact as a sophomore wide receiver. North Crowley’s Ray Gates took home the Coach of the Year award for his leadership.

Quarterbacks Shine

Chris Jimerson Jr. showcased his talent leading North Crowley’s stunning offense, which averaged a whopping 54 points per game. He threw for 3,769 yards and netted 58 touchdowns, while rushing for 777 yards and six scores, propelling his team to a Class 6A Division I state championship.

Angelo Renda also shined for Southlake Carroll, totaling 3,899 passing yards and 40 touchdowns with 11 interceptions, leading the Dragons to a state championship appearance. His impressive performance earned him the District 4-6A MVP title.

Star Running Backs

Leading the running backs, Darrion Bowers from Arlington Bowie rushed for a staggering 2,100 yards and 27 touchdowns, playing a key role in his team’s undefeated District title. Cornelius Warren III from North Crowley also put up impressive numbers with 1,607 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.

Wide Receivers and More

In the wide receiver category, Brock Boyd from Southlake Carroll impressed with 1,910 total yards and 20 touchdowns, while Kaydon Finley from Aledo racked up 1,432 yards and 21 touchdowns. Tight end Brodey Bowman of Glen Rose also had a notable season, accumulating 1,171 yards and 18 touchdowns

Defensive Standouts

Defense didn’t take a backseat this season. Jack Van Dorselaer from Southlake Carroll, with a solid 6-foot-5 frame, was a driving force on defense with an impressive tally of 42 solo tackles in his senior season. Jeremiah Brinson from Arlington Bowie also shined with 134 tackles and several key defensive plays.

As the football season wraps up, the recognition of these talented athletes highlights their hard work and dedication across Fort Worth. The future looks bright for these young athletes as many will move on to play at the collegiate level.
