Border Bowl XII Set to Showcase Top High School Talent

In Johnston, South Carolina, excitement is building as high school football players prepare for the much-anticipated Border Bowl XII. This annual event will feature the finest talent from South Carolina and Georgia, facing off this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Strom Thurmond High School.

Leading Team South Carolina is Tucker Bryan, the senior quarterback from South Aiken, who expressed his eagerness for the matchup. “Oh man, it’s an honor,” Bryan stated during a practice session. “I’ve grown up watching all the [Border Bowl] games. It’s almost like a pinch-me moment. I’m with a great group of young men, and we’ve got a lot of talent.”

A total of 42 seniors have been selected for Team South Carolina, while Team Georgia, coached by Mark Boiter of Harlem, will feature a similar number of athletes. Both coaches agree the game is not just a friendly competition; it serves as a crucial platform for charity and showcases local football talent.

The Georgia roster includes Levi Murphey, a dynamic dual-threat quarterback from Westminster Schools of Augusta, who led his team to an impressive 8-1 record last season. “It’s really a blessing,” said Murphey. “I’m really excited for the opportunity to represent the state and my school.”

Defensive standout Marcus Wheeler from Harlem is raring to contribute, claiming his selection is an “experience” he deeply cherishes. The senior registered a team-high 17 tackles for loss last season, proving his skills behind the line of scrimmage.

Both coaches are thrilled to see players, who once faced off during the regular season, come together as teammates in this special game. “All these guys know each other,” Boiter commented. “They go to camps together and compete throughout the year, and it’s great to see them bond.

The players view this game as the perfect send-off to their high school football careers. “For younger players to get here, just stick with it. Keep your head down, and work hard,” Bryan advised.

As the day approaches, fans can expect an entertaining showdown filled with determination and camaraderie. The Border Bowl XII is sure to leave lasting memories for everyone involved.
