As the NFL playoffs approach, teams across the league are closely monitoring the health of their key players in the days leading up to Wild Card Weekend. In Philadelphia, the Eagles are watching quarterback Jalen Hurts closely. After missing the last two games of the regular season due to a concussion, Hurts practiced on Wednesday for the first time since December 22. Although he is also dealing with a finger injury, his return to practice has brought a sense of optimism among teammates. Guard Mekhi Becton expressed relief, stating, “It was dope to have him out there.”
Meanwhile, Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers is also dealing with an injury situation after exiting Week 18 with an elbow issue. Love practiced in a limited capacity this week, but still expressed uncertainty about his availability for the upcoming playoff game against the Eagles. He mentioned that while numbness in his hand has disappeared, he is still feeling soreness when throwing. Love stated, “I’m hopeful,” indicating he’s aiming to play.
In Baltimore, the Ravens are facing their injury concerns with top receiver Zay Flowers not practicing due to a knee injury suffered in the last game against the Browns. Safety Kyle Hamilton did return to practice, which is a positive sign for the Ravens as they head into the playoffs.
Other teams are also managing their injury reports. The Pittsburgh Steelers reported absences due to illness for kicker Chris Boswell and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward, but both are expected to be fine for Saturday’s game. Young players like guard Mason McCormick are also pushing through injuries, eager to contribute.
The Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills appear to be in better shape, with only a few players limited or absent in practice. The Broncos’ injuries are mainly minor, while the Bills reported only two players not participating fully on Wednesday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a lengthy injury list with 16 players showing up on Wednesday’s report, but most were full participants in practice. Coach Todd Bowles suggested tight end Cade Otton is improving and could be ready for the game on Sunday.
As the playoff weekend approaches, teams will continue to keep a close eye on their respective injuries and update their statuses accordingly, hoping to field their best players when it matters most.
