Excitement Builds for Upcoming College Baseball Season

Washington, D.C. – As the winter chills begin to fade, excitement is heating up for the 2025 college baseball season, set to begin soon across the nation. Coaches from all around the country consider the recent American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) convention as a significant kickoff event, signaling that baseball is just around the corner. In his opening remarks at the conference, ABCA executive director Craig Keilitz emphasized the growth of the sport, stating, “Our sport has never been better,” citing increased interest on television and overall competitive play.

With the Division I season starting about a month away, it’s time to look at some important notes for various college baseball levels. Last season, the College World Series featured a balanced field of teams from the SEC and ACC, ultimately leading to the Tennessee Volunteers clinching their first national championship. They’re hoping to replicate their success and become the first team to win back-to-back titles since South Carolina did in 2010-11.

Meanwhile, in Division II, the University of Tampa has been a powerhouse with a stellar 139-32 record since the start of the 2022 season and claiming their ninth national championship last year. They’re aiming to continue their winning streak as they gear up for their season, which begins later this month.

Over in Division III, the championship has seen many first-time winners, including Misericordia University, who won the title last year. Furthermore, only 13 Division III programs have won multiple national championships, highlighting the competitive nature of the division.

Additionally, the NJCAA has produced several notable NCAA Division I transfers this offseason, including players like Richard Bonomolo and Brent Iredale, who led their divisions in several key statistics last season.

As the spring season approaches, it’s clear that excitement is building at every level of college baseball. Fans and players alike can look forward to a thrilling season packed with talent and competition.
