Jimmy Rogers Named Head Coach of Washington State University Football, Promising New Era Ahead

Pullman, Washington – A new chapter is set to begin for Washington State University football as Jimmy Rogers has been named the head coach. After an impressive playing career and recent coaching success, Rogers will take the reins following the departure of Jake Dickert, who has moved on to become the head coach at Wake Forest.

Rogers, who played as an all-state linebacker for the Hamilton Huskies, led his high school team to back-to-back state championships in 2003 and 2004. He went on to play college football at South Dakota State, where he made a significant impact. In just two years at the helm, he led the Jackrabbits to an FCS national championship and enjoyed a remarkable coaching record of 27-3.

According to reports, Rogers has signed a five-year contract with Washington State, earning an average salary of $1.57 million per year. The deal has been confirmed, marking an exciting transition period for the Cougars as they navigate changes in the conference landscape. The Cougars are one of only two original teams remaining in the former Pac-12 Conference, alongside Oregon State.

As college football is evolving with the arrival of other Mountain West Conference teams into the new conference lineup, Rogers will be instrumental in guiding WSU during this transition. The close-knit and challenging nature of competitive college football will be at the forefront as Rogers prepares to take charge of the program.

In his playing days, Rogers showcased impressive stats with 320 tackles, 16 sacks, and eight interceptions in high school. He continued his success in college, earning accolades and leading the conference in tackles during his tenure. Most recently, he was named the FCS Coordinator of the Year before being appointed the head coach at South Dakota State last year.

With excitement surrounding his return to his roots in Washington State, fans are eager to see how Rogers will shape the future of Cougar football. As they look toward the upcoming season, the hope is high for what lies ahead under his leadership.
