Tragic Christmas Eve Crash Claims Lives of Two Dads
MOSELLE, Miss. – A devastating car accident on Christmas Eve has led to the loss of two fathers in Jones County. The Jones County Deputy Coroner identified the victims as 17-year-old Luke Davis Jr. and 33-year-old Zebulon Lott. The tragic incident occurred on Highway 11 when the vehicles driven by Davis and Lott collided.
Davis was a senior at Columbia High School and a talented kicker for the school’s football team, the Wildcats. His girlfriend, Roxana Grimaldo, shared that Davis had big dreams of playing college football, with hopes of receiving a scholarship from major programs like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, or LSU. Grimaldo revealed that Davis had just left her family’s home shortly before the accident happened.
“He was expecting a scholarship from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, or LSU for a kicker,” Grimaldo said, reflecting on her boyfriend’s aspirations. The news of his death has left family and friends in shock as they had plans together for Christmas. “[Davis’ family] expected us to come this [Christmas] morning and open presents at their house,” she added. “His dad is devastated. He misses his son. That was his only boy.”
Meanwhile, Lott was a hardworking man, employed in the ICU and was returning home after a grueling 12-hour shift. A GoFundMe page set up by coworkers stated, “Unfortunately, Zeb passed away and left behind his wife and their three little boys.”
As both families grapple with this unimaginable loss, Grimaldo said they are trying to make the best of the situation while finding comfort in knowing Davis is at peace. “I’m glad that he’s in a better place and he didn’t suffer while he was in the accident,” she said. “He was going through a lot in his life, and all he wanted was just peace.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, leaving the community mourning the loss of two promising lives taken too soon.
