Suffolk County Brings Joy with Holiday Cheer at Oheka Castle
Huntington, New York – The atmosphere was electric as the DJ brought the festive spirit with “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and a delightful surprise awaited over 270 children. Eyes wide with anticipation, the crowd erupted with screams of joy as Santa Claus made his grand entrance into the lavish ballroom at Oheka Castle.
Accompanied by an elf, the jolly figure of Santa, dressed in a classic red suit complete with glasses and a long beard, danced through the doorway, quickly enveloped by a sea of eager children. “Best entrance ever,” exclaimed a jubilant attendee, reflecting the excitement filling the room.
The event celebrated the 30th anniversary of Toys of Hope and the American Giving Project, ensuring underprivileged children across Long Island had a chance to meet Santa. Carl Superina, 71, took on the role of Santa for the day, stepping in as a last-minute savior when the scheduled Santa was unable to attend due to health issues. Wearing the same suit he bought 40 years ago, Superina engaged lovingly with the children, making them feel cherished.
“He’s an angel who saved the day,” noted one organizer, praising Superina’s ability to spread warmth and happiness. The heartfelt joy was a highlight for the kids who were bused in from underserved areas eagerly waiting to meet their beloved Santa.
Superina, previously working in information technology for 40 years before retiring, has dedicated much of his time to embodying Santa Claus for family, friends, and community events. “I am passionate about two different uniforms,” stated Superina, explaining how he balances officiating high school football games and donning the Santa suit. “When I’m Santa, it’s all about the smiles on the faces of the children.”
His impact isn’t just felt in the halls of high schools but also resonates within the community, having created lasting memories through his Santa visits over the years. Locals recalled fond moments of joy that Superina brought, from delivering presents to playing games with the children.
As Christmas approaches, Carl Superina continues to personify the spirit of giving, reminding everyone of the joy and magic that this time of year brings. Whether on the football field or spreading holiday cheer, his commitment to his roles shines through brightly, touching the hearts of many.
