Fort Worth, Texas – The final day of the Texas high school football state championships took place on Saturday, December 21, at the impressive AT&T Stadium, showcasing thrilling matches and outstanding performances by young athletes.
In the highly anticipated Class 6A Division I state championship, North Crowley capped off their extraordinary season with a resounding 50-21 victory over Austin Westlake. The Panthers finished the year undefeated at 16-0, securing their second state title after previously winning in 2003. This win marks a significant achievement for the city of Fort Worth, as it returns the state championship to the area after a long wait of 75 years.
Meanwhile, the Southlake Carroll Dragons faced off against Austin Vandegrift in a competitive battle for the Class 6A Division II title. The Dragons’ efforts fell short as they lost 24-17, despite a thrilling performance from wide receiver Brock Boyd, who caught 13 passes for 178 yards and scored a touchdown. His remarkable efforts brought them close, but untimely turnovers proved too costly to overcome. The Dragons could only add a late field goal by Gavin Strange, leaving them just shy of the title.
In the Class 5A Division I championship, Smithson Valley captured their first state title by defeating Highland Park 32-20. The Rangers started strong with a 14-6 lead, highlighted by a defensive touchdown from Julian Colunga after an interception. Smithson Valley dominated the ground game, achieving an impressive 302 rushing yards while holding Highland Park to just 49. Quarterback Cade Spradling contributed significantly with both rushing and passing touchdowns, earning the title of Offensive MVP.
