Pittsburgh Women’s Volleyball Team Set for NCAA Semifinals
Pittsburgh, PA – The University of Pittsburgh’s women’s volleyball team received a warm send-off from their fans ahead of a crucial NCAA tournament semifinal match against Louisville on Thursday. The Panthers are making their fourth consecutive appearance in the final four as they aim for the coveted national championship title.
This season, Pitt has recorded an impressive overall record of 33 wins and only 1 loss, showcasing their dominance on the court. Out of their 34 matches played, they have achieved 27 victories via a 3-0 sweep, indicating a strong performance throughout the season. The team has only dropped a total of 14 sets, emphasizing their consistent excellence in play.
In the previous three years, Pitt has reached the final four but fell short of advancing to the championship match. This time, however, they come into the semifinal with a top overall seed in the tournament, having hosted their first four matches at home. Their victories against Morehead State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Kentucky set the stage for what fans hope will be a championship run.
Supporters lined up outside Fitzgerald Field House in Oakland, showing their enthusiasm as the team prepared to travel to Louisville. One fan, Anna Dipasquale, expressed her excitement, stating, “They are so awesome and they are so talented, they deserve all the success and we hope they go all the way.”
The semifinal match is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Thursday at the KFC Yum! Center. If Pitt secures a win against Louisville, they will advance to the championship round, where they are set to face the winner of the Penn State versus Nebraska match-up on Sunday.
