Liberty Christian Academy Celebrates Undefeated Season with Dominant State Championship Victory

Liberty Christian Academy Completes Perfect Season with State Championship Win

LYNCHBURG, VA – Liberty Christian Academy capped off a sensational season by cruising to a 42-6 victory against Kettle Run in the Virginia high school football Class 3 state championship game. The Bulldogs have showcased their dominance over the past two years, finishing this season undefeated and claiming their second consecutive Virginia High School League championship.

The game was far from competitive, as Liberty Christian jumped out to an impressive 35-6 lead by halftime. The Cougars struggled to find any offensive rhythm, with standout player Gideon Davidson leading the charge for the Bulldogs. Davidson delivered a tantalizing performance, scoring on touchdown runs of three, 83, and 14 yards in the first half alone.

In addition to Davidson’s explosive plays, senior James Deyo contributed a one-yard touchdown run, and freshman quarterback Tyler Jackson connected with Dalton Nesselrotte on a 53-yard touchdown pass. Davidson added his final touch to the game with a six-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, sealing the game at 42-6.

Liberty Christian’s offense was nothing short of stellar, racking up 327 yards and scoring six touchdowns. This performance solidified their reputation as having the second-best offense according to the Virginia On3 Massey Ratings. As the final whistle blew, it marked a fitting conclusion to Davidson’s remarkable high school football career. Before this championship, he had already accumulated 2,168 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns this season alone.

Davidson’s impact on the Bulldogs was undeniable, as he carried the ball 24 times for 181 yards and made a 14-yard catch. As he transitions to the next phase of his career, Davidson will join the Clemson Tigers along with interior offensive lineman Easton Ware, who committed to the South Carolina school earlier this season.

On the defensive front, Liberty Christian stifled Kettle Run’s offense for the majority of the match, allowing just a single scoring play in the first half, a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Mulhern to Colton Lubbe. This loss marks Kettle Run’s only defeat of the season, finishing with a record of 14-1 and ranked 24th in the composite standings.

The championship victory emphasizes the skill and teamwork of the Liberty Christian Bulldogs, who not only excelled on offense but also made significant strides defensively. As their season comes to a close, they leave behind a legacy of hard work and determination.
