All-Scholastics High School Football: Fans Vote for Player of the Year!

In a buzz of excitement for the upcoming fall season, All-Scholastics for high school football is on the horizon, and fans are getting involved!

This year, readers are encouraged to help select the Players of the Year in each sport, an innovative twist for the upcoming awards. Readers will have a say in nominations for the High School Football Player of the Year, alongside reports from a panel of four dedicated sports reporters. The panel’s votes will account for 80% of the total results, while reader votes will make up 20% of the tally, offering fans a unique chance to impact the selection process. Voting will close on December 23.

Among the standout players this year is the junior quarterback, Goyette, who has showcased versatility on the field for the Sachems. He completed 30 of 55 passes for 3 touchdowns, while also impressively rushing for 684 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns, alongside completing 13 receptions for 143 yards and an additional 2 touchdowns. Goyette isn’t just a football star; he is also a talented hockey player.

Another name to consider is Holmes from the Trojans, who demonstrated exceptional skill with a total of 1,496 yards and found the end zone 19 times. His contributions on defense, with 28 tackles and an interception, helped propel the team to the playoffs, marking their first appearance since 2017.

Junior quarterback Lambert had an outstanding year for the Boxers, amassing over 2,000 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. He was pivotal in the team’s playoff game, throwing four touchdowns in a decisive 39-7 victory.

On a more personal note, senior quarterback Mighty capped off his high school career as Abington’s all-time leader in career passing touchdowns, concluding with 18 passing and 2 rushing touchdowns this season. He also made significant contributions on defense with six interceptions.

Fans also highlighted Smith from the Tigers, who consistently delivered big plays with several touchdowns over 75 yards. He was a dual-threat player with impressive statistics as both a receiver and a cornerback.
