Chicago Bears’ Rookie QB Caleb Williams Shines in Record-Setting Season

Chicago, IL – The Bears are nearing the end of the season, but rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has already left a significant mark. The No. 1 overall pick in the draft has set several rookie passing records for the team: completing 270 passes, accumulating 2,746 yards, and throwing 16 touchdowns. One of his most notable achievements is his ongoing streak of seven consecutive games without an interception, the longest by a rookie in the NFL since 1950. He is just one game away from tying the franchise record held by Jim McMahon.

Williams has not been picked off in his last 255 attempts, and has thrown 11 touchdown passes, including seven over the last three games. “Protecting the ball is the most important thing,” Williams stated as he prepares for Monday night’s game in Minnesota. Interim head coach Thomas Brown praised Williams for his aggressive playing style, commending his ability to throw the ball into tight spaces.

Williams’ impressive 16-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio is on track to be the best for a Bears quarterback since Josh McCown in 2013. He joins a select group of only seven NFL quarterbacks boasting a ratio of over 3-1.

In addition to Williams’ impressive performance, the Bears are currently dealing with injuries. Running backs D’Andre Swift (groin) and Roschon Johnson (concussion) did not participate in Thursday’s walkthrough, along with several other players. Coach Brown emphasized keeping players fresh as the team heads towards the final stretch of the season.

Lastly, the camaraderie among the Bears’ rookies, including Williams and Rome Odunze, continues to grow. As they prepare for their next game against the San Francisco 49ers, they aim to capitalize on their skills and past experiences. With the season still ongoing, there’s plenty to look forward to for the Chicago Bears and their standout rookie quarterback.
