Fifteen teams are set to compete for CIF State championships, culminating in the much-anticipated matchup between Mater Dei and De La Salle. This showdown is scheduled for Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Saddleback College and features two undefeated teams vying for the coveted title in the CIF State Open Division.
Leading up to this marquee game, fans can enjoy a series of thrilling finals being played across three venues on Friday and Saturday. The action kicks off on Friday with several intense matchups.
In the Division 1-AA game, Lincoln edged out Pittsburg with a nail-biting 28-26 victory, thanks to a late touchdown from Saucy Searcy. In Division 2-AA, Sacramento Grant triumphed over Oxnard Pacifica with a 35-28 scoreline, highlighted by a dramatic last-minute touchdown reception from Koby Shabazz. The Division 3-AA final saw Bakersfield Frontier win their first-ever CIF State title, defeating Amador Valley 18-14, powered by a standout defense that recorded seven sacks.
St. Vincent de Paul marked history in Division 4-AA by becoming the first two-time state champions in Sonoma County history, winning 25-23 against Highland. Gabe Casanovas shined for St. Vincent with 162 rushing yards and two touchdown passes. Additionally, Carmel finished their perfect season with a lopsided 48-7 victory over El Capitan in Division 5-AA.
Moreau Catholic also celebrated their first CIF State Championship in Division 7-AA after defeating Lindsay 42-8. With all this excitement, fans are eagerly awaiting Saturday’s games, starting with the Division 1-A matchup of Fresno Central vs. Edison at 3:30 p.m.
