O’Dea Claims Class 3A Championship Title Over Bellevue
Seattle, WA – In a thrilling showdown for the WIAA Class 3A football championship, the O’Dea Fighting Irish emerged victorious over the Bellevue Wolverines with a final score of 38-15. The game, held at Husky Stadium, featured two of the state’s top programs battling it out under the lights.
From the outset, it was clear that O’Dea was ready to defend their title. The Fighting Irish utilized a strong offensive attack led by running back Uriah Stringfield, who made a significant impact throughout the game. Stringfield showcased his exceptional talent with multiple big plays, including a dazzling 63-yard touchdown run early in the second half that set the tone for O’Dea’s dominance.
Bellevue initially started strong, as they capitalized on an O’Dea fumble to score first with a 1-yard touchdown run by Bryce Smith. However, the momentum quickly shifted when O’Dea responded with a touchdown of their own, a 7-yard QB sneak from Leverett, ending the first quarter tied at 7-7.
O’Dea took control in the second quarter, with Dawson19-yard touchdown just before halftime. The score gave the Fighting Irish a comfortable lead at 14-7 heading into the locker room.
In the third quarter, O’Dea extended their lead to 28-7 thanks to more efforts from Stringfield, who zigzagged through Bellevue’s defense for a 19-yard touchdown reception. Bellevue tried to claw back, and they succeeded with Max Jones scoring from 5 yards out, but O’Dea’s defense remained steadfast, and they responded with a field goal to make it 31-15 in the final moments of the game.
With an impressive performance, O’Dea wraps up the season as champions, proving their strength in the Class 3A division. The Fighting Irish’s ability to adapt and execute their game plan was key to this victory, securing their position as one of Washington’s elite high school football programs.
