Southern California was buzzing with excitement this past Signing Day as high school football players across the region officially committed to colleges, paving the way for their dreams of playing at the next level. Southern California showcased a mix of standout athletes who either stuck to their verbal commitments or made surprising flips to new schools.
The spotlight shone brightly on the nation’s No. 1 team, featuring eight top-tier athletes who signed on the dotted line. Among them were quarterback Dash Beierly heading to Washington, and cornerbacks Daryus Dixson and Chuck McDonald III making their way to Penn State and Alabama respectively. Other notable signings included linebacker Abduall Sanders Jr. and defensive lineman Semi Taulanga, with the group rounded out by offensive lineman Sione Tohi and edge rusher Nasir Wyatt, both choosing prominent Pac-12 programs.
A key moment came when Marcus Harris, a highly-rated wide receiver from Mater Dei, flipped his commitment from Oklahoma to Washington. This decision allowed him to join Beierly at the University of Washington, marking a significant shift in the recruiting landscape. Harris, a four-star talent, is ranked among the top 50 receivers nationally.
Another surprise occurred when Madden Iamaleava, the younger brother of current Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava, decided to switch his commitment from UCLA to Arkansas. He had a brief high school stint this season before trying to transfer, only to be denied.
There was also talk of Husan Longstreet, a five-star quarterback from Corona Centennial, who made waves by flipping his commitment from Texas A&M to USC. He solidified his choice on Signing Day, becoming the No. 1 QB in the nation.
UCLA also had a strong day, securing deals with several local talents such as running back Karson Cox, defensive end Cole Cogshell, and offensive lineman Nehemiah Johnson.
The Huskies celebrated a successful Signing Day, welcoming 11 players into their program. New recruits included Tavian McNair (Utah), and LaRue Zamorano (UCLA), amongst others. They also signed Dijon Lee, a standout cornerback from Mission Viejo, heading to Alabama, solidifying his status as one of the top recruits in the country.
