Ohio High School Football Championships Set for This Week
Canton, Ohio – The buzz of excitement is in the air as the 53rd annual Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championships kick off this week at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. This highly anticipated event will showcase some of the best high school talent across the state. Fans and families are gearing up for an action-packed week of football, with all championship games set to be televised by Spectrum News 1.
As teams prepare to battle for the coveted state titles, tickets to the games are available for purchase at www.ohsaa.org/tickets. The excitement begins on Thursday, December 5th, with the first title game in Division II featuring an undefeated matchup between Cincinnati Anderson (15-0) and Avon (15-0) at 7 p.m.
Friday, December 6th will see three additional championship games. The action starts bright and early with the Division VII clash between Marion Local (15-0) and Jeromesville Hillsdale (14-1) at 10:30 a.m. Later in the day, fans can catch the Division III showdown between Columbus Bishop Watterson (15-0) and Toledo Central Catholic (14-1) at 3 p.m., followed by the Division I game featuring Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller (14-1) facing Olentangy Liberty (13-2) at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, December 7th, the championship games continue with Division VI featuring Coldwater (14-1) against Kirtland (15-0) at 10:30 a.m. At 3 p.m., the Division V title match will take place between Liberty Center (15-0) and Ironton (14-1). Finally, the Division IV championship will conclude the series at 7:30 p.m. where Indian Valley (15-0) takes on Sandusky Perkins (14-1).
