ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Excitement is brewing in the Mile High City as Bo Nix continues to impress as the Denver Broncos’ rookie quarterback. After winning the NFL Rookie of the Week award two weeks in a row, Nix has now been nominated for the honor again for Week 12 following a strong showing against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. This marks his seventh nomination this season.
In the Broncos’ victorious 29-19 game, Nix completed 25 out of 42 passes for 273 yards, throwing two touchdowns and achieving a passer rating of 94.6. With this performance, Nix leads all rookie quarterbacks with five games this season where he recorded over 200 passing yards, two or more touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Notably, Nix joined an elite group of quarterbacks over the last decade, becoming only the fifth to achieve 20 or more total touchdowns and two or fewer turnovers within a 10-game span of a season. This exclusive group includes elite names like Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes.
He also mirrored a record set by Peyton Manning, being one of just two Broncos quarterbacks since 1970 to throw at least eight touchdowns in a three-game stretch without throwing an interception. Nix’s impressive stats put him up against other rookie nominees including Jayden Daniels from Washington and Caleb Williams from Chicago.
On another note, the Broncos are preparing for their Week 13 matchup, where fans can look forward to seeing the new Midnight Navy alternate jersey. The roster is adjusting as well, with outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper earning the nomination for the 2024 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.
Head Coach Sean Payton reflected on the team’s improvement, stating, “Our team a year ago doesn’t win this game. But this team did.” The Broncos’ defense, led by players like Malcom Roach and Nik Bonitto, has been a crucial factor in their recent success, with Bonitto marking the first Broncos player since 2018 to tally a double-digit sack season.
As the Broncos gear up for the rest of the season, fans are encouraged to support Nix by casting their vote for him as Rookie of the Week. This is an exciting time for Broncos fans as they see their rookie quarterback breaking records and leading the team forward.
