High School Football Playoffs Heat Up in Birmingham as The Super 7 Semifinals Draw Near

In Birmingham, excitement builds as The Super 7 approaches, with semifinal matches leading up to the final showdown for the 7A title. This week’s games set the stage for what fans hope will be an electrifying championship weekend at Protective Stadium.

Friday night, the Central-Phenix City Red Devils took on the Hoover Buccaneers in one semifinal. The Red Devils emerged victorious, winning 17-7 and securing their spot to defend last year’s title. Meanwhile, the Thompson Warriors dominated the Enterprise Wildcats, winning 31-7 to join Central-Phenix City in the championship bout scheduled for December 4.

But the action didn’t stop at the 7A level. Across other classifications, classes 1A to 6A were also down to their semifinals. Highlighted games included Oxford narrowly defeating Fort Payne 28-26 and Saraland decisively taking down Spain Park 45-19. In the 5A quarterfinals, Montgomery Catholic triumphed over Central-Clay County 21-9 while Moody steamrolled Ramsay 49-7.

The intensity ramped up as the matchups progressed. In 4A, Cherokee County edged past Brooks 21-14, and West Morgan obliterated Anniston 50-20. The games were thrilling all around, but perhaps one of the most exciting moments came in the 3A quarterfinal where Piedmont defeated Fyffe in a nail-biting overtime finish 30-28.
